Hijab ban in Italy opposed by ex Interior Minister

Former Italian Interior minister Roberto Maroni has strongly opposed the banning of Hijab in the country. There has been a suggestion in the Italian parliament that wearing Islamic dress "Hijab" or a scarf is unlawful and should be banned in the country.
The movement against the Burqa/Hijab was started in the Northern Italy by politicians and they push started a movement to ban covering of the face in the public.
The issue has been subject to immense debate in the Italian press as well as all parts of the world. In the midst of the events the Italian ex Interior minister has opposed the Hijab ban.

Maroni said, "If the Virgin Mary appears wearing a veil on all her pictures, how can you ask me to sign on a hijab ban law?"
